The word "bodybuilding" is stereotyped by many to imply huge,
rippling, drug induced muscle monsters, while it in fact describes
any individual who desires a noticeable increase in muscle mass
(whether large OR small). One who is natural (no drugs) and wishes
to achieve 5-10 pounds of added muscle weight is no less a
"bodybuilder" than the "professionals" who injects a large quantity
of illegal, dangerous anabolic drugs, yet those with modest goals
avoid classifying themselves as "bodybuilders" for fear of fitting a
mistaken stereotype. Whether you wish to gain 5 pounds or pack on
60, you are considered a BODYBUILDER, and will engage in proper
BODYBUILDING techniques to achieve those goals. Even if you aim for
a mere 4-5 pounds of new muscle weight, training will mirror those
who target professional caliber results i.e., intense bouts of
PROPER weightlifting technique. Calories control the level of muscle
produced, and once you learn PROPER diet and exercise principles,
you can begin building muscle mass.
Remember, whether you wish to produce small or significant gains in
muscle, the principles are IDENTICAL
